Experts say massaging the inside of your wrist for two to three minutes can help you sleep better.
The inside of the wrist contains a number of important acupuncture points. Applying pressure to this sensitive spot helps relieve pain, relieve stress, and improve overall health.
According to Dr. Katherine Hall, a sleep expert, this is one of the important acupuncture points that create a feeling of relaxation and reduce cortisol levels. The National Health Service defines cortisol as a stress hormone that controls blood sugar levels. Increased cortisol levels can affect mood and sleep.
“People often call cortisol the stress hormone, because it plays a key role in the body’s functions and response to the sleep-wake cycle,” Dr. Hall said.
This increase in hormones can disrupt the delicate balance in the sleep-wake cycle, leading to problems such as insomnia, reduced sleep time and morning grogginess. To combat that feeling, the body produces more cortisol to wake itself up, like a cycle that lasts forever.

Other methods to improve sleep that experts suggest are reading a book, petting a pet for 10 minutes, limiting alcohol intake during the day, and not drinking alcohol for three hours before going to bed.
Research from the University of Sussex shows that reading can reduce stress by up to 68%. Scientists have shown that volunteers only need to read books for 6 minutes, their stress levels are reduced.
Conversely, drinking alcohol may provide a temporary sedative effect, but negatively impacts sleep cycles, interfering with sleep-regulating chemicals in the brain. This makes you wake up in the morning feeling uncomfortable even after you’ve closed your eyes for 8 hours.
